Use "Success In 10 Steps" To Boost Your Confidence

A lot of what determines success or failure is NOT the obvious stuff that you see and are concerned with.

Studies have shown that whether you're talking to someone on the phone, or in person, their impression of you & what you say is based ONLY ABOUT 8% on the words you use!!

The other 92% is your body language and the sound & qualities of your voice. I'm sure it's easy for you to understand that if you sound uncertain, no one is going to follow you. To be successful, you must sound and look like you know exactly what you are doing.

That is one of the reasons that this blog is so useful to you. The more time you spend learning about the intricacies of Success In 10 Steps, the more certainty you will have when you talk to a prospect. And as you study & gain the ability to direct them to a specific page that answers their question, you look to them like someone who really knows what they are doing.

And when they see you that way, it's a big key to their desire to work with you.
This is something you just cannot afford to shortcut. So open a new text file. Read Success In 10 Steps again, and take notes by chapter. Write down what strikes you as really memorable, really useful, and note the page it's on. Talk about it out loud. Tell what you really like. Again, write down your notes.

The better you get at this, the more confident you will sound when you speak with a prospect. When they can hear in your voice that you are certain you know what you're talking about, you are in good shape.

How do I know if my company has integrity?


Our afternoon Leaders call yesterday was full of powerful information about why you need to read your company Policies & Procedures.

The #1 feature you must have in place for success:

Company management experience with integrity.

How do I know if my company has integrity?

The answer is simple: read your company Policies & Procedures. If you can't find them on the website, it's a big red flag. Some companies say you can't read them until after you join. BIG RED FLAG

Why are they ashamed of their P&Ps? Why don't they want you to read them? The P&Ps are YOUR contract to be in business with them - written by the company lawyers! Every time any distributor ever gets a termination letter, it says, "You have violated the Policies & Procedures." They never say you violated "Terms & Conditions." It's always "Policies & Procedures."

Most reps never actually read their P and P's. You need to do it ... it may really open your eyes. At least you'll know exactly what to look for and how to protect yourself.

Now go and read your policies and procedures.

Mastering The #1 Most Important Network Marketing Skill


Why do some people succeed in network marketing, while others never do?

If I've heard this question once, I've heard it a thousand times.

And the answer that keeps coming up over and over again is, successful people made the effort to understand what really makes people tick - what motivates them - why they make the choices they make.

That is what first led me into the personality studies.

400 years before Jesus Christ, the Greek physician and philosopher Hippocrates wrote about the four basic personality types.

In 1921, Dr. Carl Jung wrote the most detailed book ever on this subject. He called the 4 personality types Feeler, Sensor, Thinker, and Intuitive.

I've discovered that it's critical to let the Yellows & the Greens know that their network marketing struggles are not their fault. The cards have been stacked against them. The Reds have been telling everybody the whole time that it's a sales business. Sell, sell, sell

But MLM success has NOTHING to do with selling. It has EVERYTHING to do with teaching, training, coaching, and mentoring people

How To Evaluate An Opportunity

Your Ex-Spouse Was An Optimist
OK. Listen. I’m NOT talking to you here. But
just be still and listen in anyway.

See, I’m talking to the guy who downloaded this e-book right after you. HIS exspouse
told him he probably was being a little unrealistic (not her exact words,
but that’s the gist) pinning his future financial hopes on a company that
promised him:

·He wouldn’t have to work - it would all be done for him.

·He wouldn’t have to actually deal with and recruit any yucky people – his group
would be built automatically through "spillover."

·He wouldn’t have to sell – his people who spilled over would do that.

·He could get rich just by clicking his mouse.

And other than that, all he’d have to do is deposit the checks!

In fact, our boy’s ex-spouse actually went so far as to imply that if a
person is lazy, greedy & gullible, they probably don’t have a bright future
in business.

She was right, of course. But that’s only half the story.

In some cases, it’s actually sincere people who make those offers, because
they’re so afraid nobody will join them if they know there’s actual WORK involved.

When you train people to do nothing but wait for you to do it for them,
you wind up with people who do EXACTLY what you've trained them to do...
nothing!

OK. Enough of that. It doesn’t apply to YOU, anyway. Let’s get on to the evaluation.
This formula has 5 parts. Each is important.

Here they are, in order of “easiest to evaluate.”

It Just SEEMS Like Brain Surgery

People ask me all the time,
"Michael! What is the BEST compensation plan?
Here's my answer.

The best comp plan has 2 key features:

1. It works "with" the numbers (I'll get to these in a minute)
2. Average people (part-timers) can build & prosper. (The vast majority in your
group will be average people).

Most network marketers are doomed from the get-go because the compensation
plan they are working does not work with the numbers.

Don't listen to me. Just listen to the numbers.

I used to race dirt bikes. When 59 motorcycles come off a 27-foot high jump,
not one single bike EVER "magically" floats up.

Fifty-nine out of 59 come crashing back to mother earth.
Gravity.
You cannot SEE gravity.
Makes no difference if you like gravity or not. Or if you understand it.

But if you jump motorcycles, you sure better learn to work with it.

In 26 years in network marketing, I’ve learned that you have to become a numbers-
cruncher or die. You may not LIKE the numbers, you may not understand
them.

Doesn’t matter.

The numbers are reality. Either work with them, or sayonara.
So … what are the key network marketing numbers?

1. If you ask virtually any successful network marketer about their success,
they'll tell you most of their income comes from 2 to 3 people in
their group.

I'm not making up that number. I have learned to work with it.

2. MLM industry statistics tell you that "average" distributors sponsor
2.7 people into any home based business in their career.

I'm not making up that number. I have learned to work with it.
Do you see a connection between these two sets of numbers?

Yellows make up 35% of the population. They don't like aggressive people.
Blues make up 15% of the population. They don't like being sold.
Greens make up 35% of the population. They don't like pushy people.
Reds make up 15% of the population. One-third of Reds don't like being sold, either.

3. So 90% of the population, 9 people out of 10, 900 people out of 1000
don't like pushy, aggressive people, or being sold.

I'm not making up that number. I have learned to work with it.

When I call prospects I have 9 out of 10 people 900 people out of 1000 leaning
forward wanting to find out, how I can help them reach their dreams.

This is because I lead with benefits, benefits, benefits,

I NEVER, never sell or close them.

People ask me all the time, "Michael, why do my people just SIT there? Why
don't they DO something?”

Well, brand this MLM truism on your brain:

If you sell or close your people to join your opportunity, you will have to
re-sell them every month to get them to do any work!

Logic & experience will tell you THAT statement is true.

So back to the compensation plan question. Just work with the numbers and
you'll never go wrong.

If the "magic" number that most people sponsor is 3, then any plan wider then 3
will not work for the masses.

Note to the Red “Super Recruiters:” I know, I know. You can sponsor 3 people
a day. Maybe 3 a minute.

The bad news is, you only make up about 3% of the population. Your best bet is
a plan that pays you fast-start money on everyone you personally sponsor and
that also pays leadership bonuses to infinity for unlimited income.

Pay Dirt! Get And Keep your people


People figure they have a great company, great products, excellent marketing
plan, good skills, proven track record, and on and on … so success in this business
should be like rolling off a log.

And then they get crushed UNDER the log!
Some facets of this business are so obvious, you may take them for granted …
and never actually DO them.

For instance.

We talked earlier about a huge, all-encompassing, powerful “WHY” that will keep
you going in your business, no matter what you come up against.

But you need ANOTHER huge, all-encompassing, powerful “WHY”.
THIS “WHY” is the reason your prospects should choose YOU over all
their other 650 home business options. Your job is to make an impression
on them that they will NEVER forget!

I don’t know your business. I don’t know what advantage YOU offer that puts
you head and shoulders above your competition.
I only know that if you can’t offer that kind of advantage,

You Are ROADKILL!!

You got NO chance.

So to help give you some ideas, I’ll tell you the advantage we offer our
prospects that elevates us above all the competition:

“I’ll provide a lead generation system that brings ONLY the most qualified
people into your group. Then I’ll train them FREE, 5 nights a week,
to build relationships and become Top Sponsors who will build YOU a
lifetime residual income!”
… or the short version:
“I will personally help you get, mentor, and keep your people – for
FREE, 5 nights a week!”

You are certainly welcome to become part of our group and use OUR advantage.
But in any event, you MUST be able to put YOUR focused advantage into a few
words to create a lasting impression and elevate you above all your competition.

“So What?”

There’s a very well-known Direct Marketing guy (See? I DO know some of
them!) who once told me that after he writes an ad, he reads every sentence to
himself and asks,

“So What?”

If he doesn’t have a good answer, that sentence is GONE!

“So What?” is a good benchmark for YOU to use as you build your business. Everything
you plan to do … every sentence you write … ask yourself, “So what?”

In other words …

Am I on-target?

Have I gotten hypnotized by a side-issue and gone off in some time-wasting direction?

Is this piece critical to the final picture?

Does this make sense? Can other people follow it?

“So what?” will help you execute.

You’ll learn to be surgical in focusing on what’s important.
You’ll get rid of much of the clutter in your life.
It will help you define your competitive advantage.

Network Marketing: Figures Don't Lie, But Liars Do Figure


Advertising copywriters and salespeople are trained to give specific numbers. in order to increase credibility. And that's great, if those numbers have any basis in reality. In network marketing, they often don't.

For example:

Companies say, "We keep 93% of Our people!"

They lie.

Truth: There was an MLM phone company a few years back that had to publicize their retention rate, because they were publicly traded. They're out of business now, so we'll go ahead and mention their name - Excel.

Take a guess. Out of every 100 people Excel signed up, how many were still in the business a year later?

50%? HAH!

25%? As they say in the Hertz commercial, "Not exactly!"

10%? You're getting warm -

Excel's public record showed 6% to 7% retention. That's not 67% - it's 6 to 7% retention!

So you build your network marketing business for a year:

* You buy advertising.

* You do 3-way calls.
* You go to meetings.
* You talk to all your friends & relatives.
* And you wind up recruiting 100 people!

Yippee You're almost rich.

Well, not exactly. Why? Because what you have left is 6 to 7 people out of 100 (!) still building the MLM.

Ooops - wait - that's not all you've got. You also have:

* Smashed dreams.
* Maxed-out credit cards.
* And probably a LARGE bunch of people who hide when they see you coming!

Whatever you do in network marketing must be duplicatable for the masses. Six to 7% retention is not smart business.

Results like this make it obvious why we coach people to first find a "5-Pillar" company, and then to build relationships with prospects.

Bad Business

It is bad business to recruit someone into an unstable company.

It is bad business to recruit someone before you have built a relationship with them.

When you recruit a person who is your friend into a "5 Pillar" company, the two of you have a commitment to each other and a strong chance for success.

When you try a business relationship without that personal, mutual commitment, or with an unstable company, your chances of failure skyrocket.

It is the truth.


For me personally, I have found building my network marketing business to be fun, and I am in business with people that will be my friends for a life time. I don't just sponsor anyone into my business, I make sure that I have a good connection with the person, and would want to be on a 30 day cruise with them.

LET THE SYSTEM DO THE WORK


Remember when you first heard, "Sales is a numbers game." Somebody said that to you because you had called 25 people with absolutely no success. What they meant was, "Keep on swinging. Eventually you'll hit one." Unfortunately, they did not have your best interest in mind. They wanted to keep you around a few more weeks before you gave up and they had to train another unknowing suspect.

With this thinking, if you want to make one sale, you've got to make 100 calls. Two sales, 200 calls. The problem with that is if you want to make 10 sales, you've got to make 1000 calls. Who has time to make that many calls? Can you see how this approach can limit you?

I believe in working smarter, not harder. Instead of grunt work, which is what cold prospecting is, wouldn't you rather spend your time talking with qualified prospects that need you and want you to call them?

Why on earth would you willingly spend your time searching under rocks for those people, and then begging them for a few minutes on the phone?

Would you rather be able to follow up with a prospect who has already contacted you and get most of them to spend time with you on the phone?

Network Marketing "Spillover" - The Myth, The Facts

A caller recently told me he's joining an MLM company because they promised him spillover. I said, "They are lying to you!"


The guy called me back later and said, "I point-blank asked them if I'd get people put underneath me, and the guy said, ëWell, we can't guarantee that.'"
Spillover - Creating a Welfare Mentality


Good people don't want welfare. They want to build it themselves. They just want to learn the skills they need to build this business and create residual income, money that's coming in week after week, year after year, and they can will it to their children's children.


When you look at a lot of network marketing websites, you often see that word "spillover." The proposition, more or less, is, "get in now, today, and you'll get all this spillover."
In 30 years, I have never, ever, ever seen anybody get spillover, having somebody build it for them.

And if you look closely at the compensation plans of the companies that promote spillover, you'll find out that those who get spillover usually don't get paid on it. There are other hoops to jump through to get paid on that spillover, and these people rarely ever qualify.

So it's the person who actually does the work who gets the pay¶ what a novel idea!

Companies & reps use "spillover" as a tool to drag in people who think they can build a business without doing any work. In other words, no sponsoring, no recruiting. It targets that type of person

When You Say "Spillover", You Are Targeting Quitters!

When you see a network marketing company that promotes spillover on their website, they're looking for welfare-minded people. The problem for you is, you can't build with these people, unless YOU do all the work! That's what they expect. And when you don't build their business, they'll be off somewhere else, looking for a better welfare plan.

So really, when you or your company promote spillover, you are targeting people who will not be with you long-term. And in network marketing, that makes absolutely no sense. The failure rate will be 100%.

And Here's Why The Leads You Buy Tell You To Go Pound Sand!

The quickest way to build a huge list is to offer the moon and require nothing (no money, no work, no purchase) in return. You'll see companies promoting "we've signed up more people faster than anybody else in the history of network marketing." Problem is, there's nobody ordering any product. It's just a bunch of names on a list - but now they can call these people "network marketers."

Then they turn around and sell this huge database of worthless names (an "MLM geneology list") For $10,000 each to 10 different list brokers. BAM! That's $100,000 profit! And then the list brokers sell these "leads" to all the people in network marketing who want to build their business - including YOU!

So you pay $2-$3 a lead for these people, you call them up, and they tell you, "Hey! You’re nuts! I've never been in network marketing!" They don't even know what it is. They just opted in to some pie-in-the-sky list, hoping to get something for nothing.

Conclusion? Run like heck from any company focused on "spillover" - and ALWAYS generate your own leads.

THE HUMAN WINNING MACHINE


If YOU were your prospect, what would YOU want?

I know what I’d want.

1. When you talked with me, I’d want you to LISTEN first and foremost,
to find out what I really want. I’d need to feel you and I were simpatico.

This is where you must kick butt. Start your relationship-building immediately.
TELL me what you’re doing and WHY you’re doing it, and let me know that part
of your system is to help me build those key relationships.

I want to believe you consider MY success crucial to your life.

Michael Jordan was the greatest basketball player ever. A big part of that was,
he just plain WANTED to win more than the other guys.

You ever watch Jordan the last few minutes of a close game – ANY close
game? He CHANGED!! He’d psyche himself into a zone where he could
virtually do no wrong. He had total disdain for whomever he was playing.

He didn’t just want to beat them. He wanted to EMBARRASS them!

He’d focus on his skills and become a human winning machine.

YOU need the same focus when you talk to your prospect. The ONLY thing that
matters is what your prospect thinks, wants, wishes for, desires and needs.
If I’m your prospect, YOUR entire universe better revolve around me when we
talk. What YOU want doesn’t even exist, as far as I’m concerned. And it shouldn’t
exist for you, either … not when you’re talking to me.

THEN you and I will have an identical viewpoint!

2. I would want you to make a very clear, short, compelling case –
based on what I’ve told you – as to why YOUR opportunity is better for
me than all the competition.

I’d expect you to be able to answer every marketing question I have.

Don’t tap dance around what you don’t know. Know your company resources
well enough to get me to the exact right source (hotlines, web pages, brochures,
etc.) to answer any questions you can’t answer.

3. I would want a simple marketing system that’s inviting, informative,
non-threatening, educational, & fun.

The more complex it is, the less chance I’ll be able to execute. You are in a cutthroat
contest for my time and attention. One of your key weapons in this battle
is simplicity. Making the complex clear is hard work. Few people do it well.

If you can give me all the information I need, clear & organized so I can make a
quick choice, your chances skyrocket.

How To Handle Some Tough Prospect Questions


Several people have asked questions recently, and I'd like to answer them here.

Most important, you need to understand that I, personally, do not get asked these kind of questions, because I do not target these kinds of people for my business. I don't talk to people who don't believe in network marketing.

It's crucial to your success that you target market. Target the people who already believe in network marketing. Offer them the Success In 10 Steps ebook. And when someone raises their hand for more information, they will NEVER ask you questions like these.

OK. The reality is, not everyone is going to do that. And they will get some tough questions like

Question #1: "How much money did you make in your business?"

So I do coach people on how to answer questions like this. And your response to this question should always be, "I don't have a clue. I haven't finished collecting it all yet."

See, you never know how much of an ongoing ripple effect you'll get from what you did yesterday and the day before. How can you know how much money you're going to make when you sponsor somebody into your business?

Today, you're making $5 a week. Next month, You're making $50 a week. And the following month, you're making $500 a week - all from the business-building efforts of that one person you signed up today.

MLM is a business that will pay you a lot next year, and 5 years from now, and 20 years from now - for work you did today. The person asking you this question does not understand the amazing phenomena of getting paid every week for work you did 10 years ago.

Question #2: You've just started in network marketing and the person asks, "If this company you're promoting is so great, then why aren't you making any money from it?"

Again, this question comes from a person who does not understand or believe in network marketing. And so here you are, in the impossible position of trying to convince this person.

Building any business takes some time to build a network of customers buying your products. Someone says, "Well, a couple years ago, this guy online sold $1 million of a product the first day he offered it."

And that's true. But what you lose sight of is that his "opening day" was in the planning stages for many months, as he lined up dozens and dozens of internet marketers - each of whom had a list of thousands of subscribers - to promote his product.

If you trace that "$1 Million Day" to its origin, it goes back many years, to when all these component lists were being built.

Is it possible to make a profit immediately, from your first day? Sure. But you get the greatest network marketing rewards by training others to move your products - a result which will show up big in future paychecks.

Question #3: "Someone likes my company, but would rather join under a Heavy Hitter who knows what they're doing. How should I respond?"

The problem with joining under a Heavy Hitter is, most of them don't have time to talk to you. They don't have time to help you build your business. Many of them - you'd be astonished to learn just how many - were actually GIVEN most of their organization by the company, to "prove" how big a person can build. And many Heavy Hitters are hard-core salespersons. They do stuff you & I could never do in our wildest dreams (and still sleep at night!).

Heavy Hitters are not into hand-holding. When you sign up with them, they expect you to get to work and build. If you don't, no problem, there are a hundred others waiting in line behind you to join with a Heavy Hitter.

If you need any kind of coaching, mentoring, or training, most Heavy Hitters will never do that. They consider you "dead wood." You're in their way, and you need to be swept aside, in favor of someone who already knows what to do.

As we coach people to be successful, we focus on how you need to build a relationship with people. You can't ask them to join your business before you have a real relationship with them. It will not work. And if you're getting Question #3, then you are talking to people with whom you have NOT built a relationship.

If you're not building a relationship with them, you got no chance. A friend would never choose some "Heavy Hitter" over you. If you're having that problem, you need to learn the "Colors" technology and focus on making a friend first. That strategy works long-term, it's easily taught, and it's something anyone can do.

When you target the market and then talk to people who raise their hand, you will not get these kinds of questions.

Question #4: "I don't have much money to drive around town looking for prospects. How can I conentrate my efforts to expose people to my MLM Business?"

The problem here is, your upline has got you driving around, trying to pounce on people and slam them into your business.

Network marketing is a relationship business. You should be target-marketing online. It doesn't cost any gasoline money to do that. You need to

1. Target your ideal market.

2. Get the right people to raise their hand.

3. Build a relationship with them.

4. And when the timing is right for them to be in business, they will call you.

THIS is how success works. You cannot slam people into your MLM business and have any hope of long-term success. Period.

MLM Sponsoring Secrets - A Proven, Tested 5-Step System


To grow your network marketing business you need to do:

1. Targeted lead generation

2. Automated prospect follow-up

3. One-on-one relationship building

4. Sponsoring and

5. Training

If you have a single system to perform all these functions, so much the better. If your MLM company or upline group does not provide system(s) to accomplish these targets, you absolutely have to set them up yourself. But it's a lot easier to go someplace where they understand these MLM sponsoring secrets and already have an established, tested & proven system.

Let me tell you a bit about each aspect of the sponsoring system that I use.

1. Targeted lead generation. Why do you want to build the dream for somebody else? How do you think you're ever going to make somebody have a dream? You only want to talk to people who ALREADY have the dreams, the goals, the desire to be successful.

Don't put yourself in the position where you have to convince somebody to get up off the couch, turn off the TV, quit watching the football game and drinking beer. Leave those people alone. They need to do that stuff. We need people in our lives and in this world who do that. Let them do that.

ONLY talk to people who have the goals, dreams, desires. These are the warriors. These are the people who will build the business, no matter what. Target THOSE people. Then your business will be fun & exciting. You'll have massive duplication when you work with targeted people.
How do you find them?

You want a lead generation system that brings you ONLY the most qualified people. A lead who is a reader is far more likely to have long-term network marketing success than most other leads you get. That is who you must target.

How? You promote a website that has only one objective: capture contact information. So when a visitor comes to your site, their only options are signing up or leaving. And you do your best to make them an offer they cannot refuse. I prefer to offer a great ebook because, again, Leaders are Readers.

2. Automated prospect follow-up. The secret in network marketing is following up with people. People are busy. Our lives are busy. It's best to have an automated email system going out to these prospects. You need one written by a professional copywriter who knows how to tweak the mind, answer questions, create a relationship in print. You want your automated follow-up to create a relationship with ad copy.

It's mandatory that you have a system in place to follow-up with people automatically, so you don't have to do it. Because guess what?
You might be on vacation, on a company-sponsored, company paid-for, week-long trip to Italy. You need an automated follow-up system.

3. One-on-one relationship building: your most important MLM sponsoring secret. Network marketing is a relationship business. You want to sponsor them one at a time and bring them in one at a time
.
The only way you can do that is to build a one-on-one relationship with those people.

I've seen organizations come online and they sponsor, sponsor, sponsor, recruit, recruit, recruit, using some downline building system. But none of those people ever upgrade, none of those people ever buy product, because there's no relationship. If you ever tried to call one of those people and say, "Hey, I'd like to visit with you -", they won't even return a phone call.
So it's most important to have relationships when you're building the business. They've got to know that you care.

This step is crucial, so we're constantly training people to do it. I do a live, generic MLM "relationship-building" training call 5 nights a week. No company is EVER mentioned on these calls. No products are EVER discussed.

You'll get to listen in while I work with other callers, talking to their leads, too. You can bring your lead phone numbers to that call, if you want, and we'll call them together. You’ll hear exactly what to say. We’ll establish that they’re definitely looking for a good way to make extra money from home. Then we’ll set a time for you to call them back to talk more in depth about YOUR opportunity.
And I promise you, if you build people, then people will build your business.

4. Sponsoring. Wow! I love that word, "sponsoring." See, I take that word differently than most people. Why?
Because I take YOUR success personally.

When I'm your sponsor, I'm your sponsor for life. I'm 54 years old. And in 50 years or so, I'll be going to your funeral, or you'll be going to mine. If I'm your sponsor, that is the way it is. You & I will be in business together the rest of our lives.

So wouldn't you rather sponsor people that you want to associate with? My mentor told me, "Only sponsor people that you'd want to go on a 1-month cruise with."
Wow! How important is that? Don't just sponsor somebody who can fog a mirror. ONLY sponsor people who you really want to build a business with.

5. Training. Absolutely the lifeblood of your business is teaching, training, coaching & mentoring new people on how to do network marketing.
You'd better have a team website. You'd better have a step-by-step Action Plan. You've got to train them.

They need to learn the skills of how to do MLM. That's critical in the training process. You can train a dog. But for people, you have to teach them the skills they need to do this business.

Ninety-two per-cent of the world's population is sales resistant. They don't like to sell, don't like to be sold. So don't waste your time studying about the superduper elixir drink, where the ingredients are scraped off the rock by blind leprechauns every other full moon. Don't study the product ingredients.

Study people. Learn our "Color To Success" training. You'll learn how to listen to people, and you will own your business, and you will own your life

You can just plug your people right into our training system, and the cycle begins again.

This is what you call a “Greased Chute”. Step 1 flows smoothly into Step 2. Step 2 into Step 3. Step 3 into Step 4. Step 4 into Step 5. And step 5 into Step 1.

And so on and so on.

The term 'greased chute' means there are NO bumps along the way. No impediments, nothing whatsoever to even slightly slow the flow of a prospect from one step to the next

THE BOY THAT DANCED IN THE RAIN


Patrick Henry Hughes was born with no eyes, and a tightening of the joints which left him crippled for life. However, as a child, he was fitted with artificial eyes and placed in a wheelchair. Before his first birthday, he discovered the piano. His mom said, "I could hit any note on the piano, and within one or two tries, he'd get it." By his second birthday, he was playing requests (You Are My Sunshine, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). His father was ecstatic. "We might not play baseball, but we can play music together."

Today, Patrick is a junior at the University of Louisville. His father attends classes with him and he's made nearly all A's, with the exception of 3 B's. He's also a part of the 214 member marching band. You read it right...the marching band! He's a blind, wheelchair-bound trumpet player; and he and his father do it together. They attend all the band practices and the half-time performance in front of thousands. His father rolls and rotates his son around the field to the cheers of Patrick's fans. In order to attend Patrick's classes and every band practice, his father works the graveyard shift at UPS. Patrick said..."My dad's my hero."

Now, I am trying to wipe the tears from my eyes, as this story sent to me by Mac Anderson has just sent chills up my spine. This fine young man was determined to never give up on his dreams. How many of us have given up on our dreams? How many of us have made excuses about why we can't do a project that may seem difficult or challenging?

We all face adversity in our life. However, it's not the adversity, but how we react to it that will determine the joy and happiness in our life. During tough times, do we spend too much time feeling sorry for ourselves, or can we feel a little thankful for what we do have?

This story really opened my eyes a lot! I tend to feel sorry for myself when things don't always go the way I want, or when things get a little challenging for me. Next time, I will think of Patrick when the going gets tough.

GET YOUR PROSPECTS TO START BUILDING THEIR BUSINESS BEFORE THEY JOIN

Tell your prospect that he must "qualify" to join your
program.

You could say this:

"Mr. Prospect. I don't want you to join my
business if it's not for you. So, before you
make a decision, do this. Come to next week's
opportunity meeting and bring two guests. After
the meeting, see how your guests react. See how
you feel about our business. And then, make a
decision."


Here is what happens.

1.Your prospect feels relaxed. He doesn't have to make
a decision right away.

2.Your prospect will find it easy to bring two guests.
There is no pressure on the guests. They are just
coming to look.

3.Your prospect doesn't feel that he is trying to make
money off his guests. He doesn't pressure them or
himself during the invitation.

4.Now you have three prospects at the opportunity
meeting instead of one prospect.

5.If your opportunity meeting is good, your prospect is
off to a great start. He'll have two potential
distributors ready to go - and more importantly, your
prospect knows that he can invite guests and build a
business. He just did it!

I have actually done this with my own network marketing business, and it works great! The prospect doesn't feel pressured or sold! Network marketing isn't for everyone. Some like it and some don't....and that is why I like this approach. Tom Schreiter gave me this tip that I just shared with you.

MY MENTOR....THE MOST BRILLANT MARKETER I KNOW

retention, You must:

1 - Choose a company with consumable products that make a
real difference in the lives of Your people and those they love.
Network marketing is a relationship business, and it's also
a TESTIMONIAL business. For Your people to be
successful with word-of-mouth advertising, they need a strong
testimonial for the products they like.

2 - Offer great value to the end user (And the value YOU offer
includes much more than just Your products), which allows
You to build a very attractive income.

3 - Get to know Your people. Learn what they really want. Help
them formulate their "WHY". Do everything You can to make
them feel so valued and cared for that they'll be forever loyal.
Give them the personal attention, respect & admiration they
deserve.

If Your people see You as a direct Marketing Genius, You're
lost in space.

If they see You as a special, trusted friend

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

Randy Pausch was 47 years old when he died from pancreatic cancer. He was, as the Independent of London put it, "the dying man who taught America how to live." His book, The Last Lecture, is an international best-seller and it offers many wonderful lessons about life.

Randy Pausch's "last lecture" was delivered in September 2007, at Carnegie Mellon University, where he taught computer science. The lecture began with him standing before a screen beaming down chilling CT images of tumors in his liver, under the title...The Elephant in the Room. He then said to a stunned audience, "I have about 6 months to live." He said, "I'm really in good shape, probably better shape than most of you," ... dropping to the floor to do push-ups.

He went on to say, "I'm dying and I'm having fun, and I'm going to keep having fun every day I have left." He talked about his childhood dreams and what they had taught him about life. He said, "If you live your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself...your dreams will come to you." Randy Pausch really was a dying man who has taught America how to live. He died on July 25, 2008, but his wisdom, his passion, and his attitude are lasting sources of inspiration for all of us.

The lesson that I have learned from Randy is.... to have fun doing what you love to do. If you aren't having fun then why are you doing it? We all have that one thing we are really good at, and love to do....so go and put your special talents to use here on earth. There is no tomorrow....only today. Randy knew his Why......Why are you here on earth?

PEOPLE STILL WANT LOVE AND PASSION


People haven’t changed even the least little bit.

They still want love. They want passion in their personal lives and their professional lives. They want self-satisfaction & health, security & achievement, freedom & trust, fun & financial independence.

People have wanted these same things for a thousand years, and they’ll still want them a thousand years from now.

The mistakes I see people make in this business astonish me … the wrong directions they take and the worthless busywork they do.

If you want happiness and fortune & fulfillment in your life, if you want a lifetime of luck, you need to create relationships with people. To do that, you need to study people and understand them. If you will only do that, the opportunities you’ll be presented with are endless.

And yet I see so many who want those things … but they study the mold
scraped from under the rock by the monk in the white lab coat at midnight on the 7th night after the full moon.

Hey! You definitely need a remarkable product in this business.

But your product is NOT the magic.

The magic is YOU.
Since I have taken this advice to heart, and started forming relationships with people ,I have made friendships that will last a lifetime. MLM really is about people....not products or companies.
I have built relationships with people who are in other companies, as well as people in my own company, and I can tell you that it is fun to just be friends, and not worry about what company a person is with. I cherish the friendships that I have built.

HERE'S A BIG SECRET FOR ACQUIRING RICHES


Network marketing is hard and takes a lot of work. Some people sign up to do network marketing and think that they do not have to do any kind of learning or growing, and that magically all this money is going to be coming in quickly. Some people have even told me, "Well it has been six months, and I am not making very much money," or" I've been doing this a whole year and don't have anything to show for it."

Here is my response to anyone who may have a similar situation as the two people above have. You must have a burning desire, and I mean one that keeps you going when the going gets tough....and it does get tough, especially when building a network marketing business.

The second thing I would say is that, you must believe without a doubt that you will possess the money you desire.

I told these two people that we can all program our minds for whatever riches we truely desire by doing the six simple steps. 1) Writing down the exact amount of money you desire. 2) Determine what you will give in return because there is no such thing as something for nothing. 3) Set an exact date when you want to recieve such riches. 4) Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire. ( I have found that this step is the one that some people have the hardest time with). 5) Write out a clear, concise statement of the money you intend to acquire with the name and time limit for its acqusition, and state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it. Read this statement aloud, twice daily, once before going to bed, and once in the morning after waking up. As you read....see, feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.

This not only works for acquiring riches, but it can be used to attain any goal that one may have.

These steps are very simple to do, and they are also simple not to do. Yes, acquiring riches does take some work, and if I chose not to do these six steps, then I have only myself to blame for not aquiring the riches that I desire.

Your WHY should never be about money. It should be about who YOU really are as a person.

When you die, what are people going to say about you? Are they going to remember that you paid off that Visa bill a week before you died?

When I die, I want to leave behind a legacy for my children and grandchildren. What is the legacy you ask? It is service to others without expecting anything in return. I wake up in the morning and live my life that way. I mentor and coach people for free five days a week and don't ever ask anything in return.

I challenge anyone who reads this to dig down deep and write out your WHY.

I BROKE A MIRROR


This morning I went to the dollar store and bought a medium size mirror. I brought it home and unwrapped it and took it out to the trash dumpster to break it, so there would be no mess in my kitchen.

When I got to the dumpster I noticed that there were a few others throwing away their trash, and so I slammed the mirror against the dumpster and it made a loud crackling noise. Immediatly three people turned back to see what had happened, and the look on their faces when they noticed that I had purposly broke a mirror was priceless. I just turned, smiled and started cleaning up the pieces from the broken mirror. The three ladies just turned, and began conversing in spanish....I am sure they were talking about me. I turned back and told them to have a nice day, and went back inside my house.

Breaking the mirror was actually fun for me. I felt fantastic after I broke that mirror because I know that I am not a superstitious person. I have chosen to live in the 7 positive emotions which are faith, desire, love, sex, enthusiasm, romance, and hope. My mentor Michael Dlouhy has added a eighth positive emotion and that is prosperity. I challenge anyone who reads this to live in the 7 positive emotions and see how it changes your life.

YOUR WARM MARKET HAS ICE IN THEIR VEINS


Your warm market has ice in their veins.

A nailed "why" can save your life.

Most people have a huge problem when they decide to improve their situation in life. That problem is one or more of the people closest to you will NOT want to see you succeed.

This is a FACT for virtually everyone on this planet, and you are no different. You can argue with me until you're blue in the face, but that won't change anything.

THERE ARE PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE WHO WILL BE THREATENED WHEN YOU MAKE A PASSIONATE PUSH TO SUCCESS. THEY WILL COMPLAIN AND CRITICIZE AND TRY TO SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF YOU.

Why? Because THEIR life is a mess and misery truly does love company.

Your best option is to get rid of them. Next best is to have an AMAZING "WHY", A 99.9% "WHY", that will keep you going through rain, sleet, snow, flood, pestilence, nuclear, holocaust, or the criticism of a "loved" one.

So why is it critical you do THIS business? And why is it critical that you succeed?

You must make your WHY about YOU, and it can't be about money. If all you are doing is chasing money, then you will spend the rest of your life chasing money.

You WHY must be personal, and big enough to keep you going when you don't feel like picking up the phone.

Here is a little bit of my my WHY, and yes it is personal.

The reason I am doing this is because of family. All my married life, we have been living paycheck to paycheck. Heck, we have even been homeless, and forced to live in someone else's house...five of use in one small bedroom.

My second reason for doing this is I never want to be a burden on my children in the future. I never want to ask my kid's for rent money. I can see the look in my daughter's face when she has to wait for a new pair of jeans. Imagine me trying to ask her for help when I am to old to work...no way I want that to happen.

The third reason is I want to build my own home. I want to have a place for my kids and their kids to come and visit and stay too.

I challenge you everyone reading this to find YOUR WHY, and write it down.

EVALUATING AN OPPORTUNITY USING THE 5 PILLARS FOR SUCCESS

In order to evaluate a company using the 5 pillars for success,
I like to compare the 5 pillars to baking an apple pie, because it’s a good word picture most people can understand it. Most people have either baked an apple pie or seen someone bake one or at least enjoyed eating a delicious apple pie. Baking an apple pie is easy, all you need is five key ingrediants....1 a pie plate, 2) a pie crust, 3) some apples,4) sugar and spices to make it taste good, 5) butter or lard so it won’t burn or stick in the oven. Right? Ok.... so let say you and I are talking and laughing and we leave out the sugar and spice. How will our pie turn out? You say , “it won’t turn out right”. WHY DO SOME PEOPLE SUCCEED WHILE OTHERS FAIL ?


Hello again everyone. Lately I have been studying about the brain,conscious mind as well as only focusing on the seven positive emotions that Napolean Hill talks about in his book Think and Grow Rich.

Then I can accross this brillant article by Earl Nightingale. This makes total sense to me.

George Bernard Shaw said, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them."
Well, it's pretty apparent, isn't it? And every person who discovered this believed (for a while) that he was the first one to work it out. We become what we think about.
Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety and worry - his life becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing... he becomes nothing.
How does it work? Why do we become what we think about? Well, I'll tell you how it works, as far as we know. To do this, I want to tell you about a situation that parallels the human mind.
Suppose a farmer has some land, and it's good, fertile land. The land gives the farmer a choice; he may plant in that land whatever he chooses. The land doesn't care. It's up to the farmer to make the decision.
We're comparing the human mind with the land because the mind, like the land, doesn't care what you plant in it. It will return what you plant, but it doesn't care what you plant.

Now, let's say that the farmer has two seeds in his hand- one is a seed of corn, the other is nightshade, a deadly poison. He digs two little holes in the earth and he plants both seeds-one corn, the other nightshade. He covers up the holes, waters and takes care of the land...and what will happen? Invariably, the land will return what was planted.

As it's written in the Bible, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
Remember the land doesn't care. It will return poison in just as wonderful abundance as it will corn. So up come the two plants - one corn, one poison.
The human mind is far more fertile, far more incredible and mysterious than the land, but it works the same way. It doesn't care what we plant...success...or failure. A concrete, worthwhile goal...or confusion, misunderstanding, fear, anxiety and so on. But what we plant it must return to us.

You see, the human mind is the last great unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant.

If you put positive emotions into your mind then you will reap positive results. This makes it very simple to understand why some folks have negative things happen to them in their business and in their life.

If you think you can build a large organization with the help of team work and education...then you can. If you think that no one wants to join you or buy your products.....then that will happen too.

The lesson learned here for me is I must watch what I put into my mind and keep these seven positive emotions desire,faith, love, sex, enthusiasm, romance, hope, and if you like to add an eighth emotion.....prosperity.

WHAT'S IN YOUR SUB-CONSCIOUS??


Eric was a brillant math teacher who could remember facts and figures really well, and he possesed the ability to work any kind of Algberaic equation that was thrown at him. This guy was totally into the colledge life and studied anything he could get his hands on, but math was his favorite subject.

Eric was using the smart part of his brain known as the conscious part, which is the size of a small orange.

Eric also has a stupid part of his brain called the sub-conscious and is as dumb as a box of rocks and the size of the entire world. This part of Eric's brain makes all the decisions in about three seconds flat.

The sub-conscious mind does not know right from wrong or left from right, truth from lie and in order to own your life all you need to do is program your mind with these 7 positive emotions that Hill talks about in his book Think and Grow Rich.

#1. Desire.
#2. Faith.
#3. Love.
#4. Sex.
#5. Enthusiasm.
#6. Romance.
#7. Hope.

So what are you waiting for?? Get busy programing your life for succeess! You can do it! I am!

I read a great book back about 1980. Don’t remember the title, but it was about luck. Why are people lucky? How does luck happen? Can a cause be pinpointed? What makes lucky people different from unlucky people?


**Rabbit’s Foot, Anyone?

The author talked to a lot of people, those who considered themselves lucky and those who didn’t. He’d find out what had happened in their lives, and he chronicled their incidents of luck.

And then he looked at differences & similarities of the people he’d interviewed, and he came to a conclusion.

His conclusion was a revelation to me. Luck is NOT random.

It’s the result of what he called the spider web effect.

People who build webs tend to be lucky. People who don’t build webs tend not to be lucky.

In other words … the more contacts you make in life … the more relationships you build … the fewer bridges you burn … the greater the universe of people who have strong positive feeling for you … the more people you reach out to help … the more likely you are to be lucky.

This was fascinating. The biggest conclusion for me was YOU are in control of your own luck!


**Give Your Prospects a Puppy

But people haven’t changed even the least little bit.

They still want love. They want passion in their personal lives and their professional lives. They want self-satisfaction & health, security & achievement, freedom & trust, fun & financial independence.

People have wanted these same things for a thousand years, and they’ll still want them a thousand years from now.

The mistakes I see people make in this business astonish me … the wrong directions they take and the worthless busywork they do.

If you want happiness and fortune & fulfillment in your life, if you want a lifetime of luck, you need to create relationships with people. To do that, you need to study people and understand them. If you will only do that, the opportunities you’ll be presented with are endless.

And yet I see so many who want those things … but they study the mold
scraped from under the rock by the monk in the white lab coat at midnight on the 7th night after the full moon.

OPTIMISM IS CONTAGIOUS

I recently had a call from a man who was complaining about the fact that he could not sponsor anyone into his business. I called him back and we talked for a while. I noticed that all he did was whine and moan about how bad his life really was, and his voice was quiet and shallow. As the call progressed, my energy level seemed to be getting lower and lower, and I finally had to hang up and call it a day. No wonder this person wasn't attracting anyone to his business or himself for that matter because if I would have been a prospect....I would have hung up on him right away after hearing the tone in his voice.

The next day I called a young lady and she said that her sales were booming! I asked her how she had done it, and she could hardly contain the excitement in her voice as she proceeded to tell me her marketing strategy. This gal kept on talking and talking expaining all her new ideas in detail to me. We talked for almost a whole hour. When I finally got off the phone.....I was so energized, I quickly got on the phone and dialed some new clients that I had been meaning to visit with for
days.


Now ask yourself this question.....Which one are you?? Pesismist or Optimist?? Do people want to talk to you or do they run every time they see you heading down toward them?

GHOSTS OF THE PAST STILL HAUNTING YOU??


What do your past and Jimmy Hoffa have in common?? Any guesses?? If you answered they are both dead, then you got it right! Congradulations!

Well the same thing can be said about YOUR past as well....IT IS DEAD!!

So many people that I have talked to keep bringing up the same old stories over and over again and again. The more we dwell on the past and our past failures, the worse we will feel.

I am here to tell you that today is a new day and all we have is the HERE AND NOW!! There is no guarantee of any tommorrows and yesterday is already a cancelled check!
